Homemade Spicy Black Bean Hummus

Looking for an healthy afternoon snack? One of my favorites is raw veggies and hummus. This way I get a dose of protein and with the sugar snap peas I am able to get a great dose of vitamin C and fiber! Hummus comes in so many varieties now, there is something for everyone's palate! Hummus can be made from chickpeas, black beans, white beans, even beets! You can flavor it to your liking and even add nuts if you wish! Below is a basic recipe I like to make and keep on hand for a quick, healthy afternoon option.

2 cans black beans (I used Wild Oats organic) rinsed and drained
2T of lemon juice
1T of red pepper
1T of garlic powder
(you can use any spices you prefer- chili flakes, onion flakes, paprika, cumin, garlic, black pepper, etc)
Dump all ingredients into a food processor- I use my Ninja. Turn it on "blend" for 1 minute. Sppon into an airtight container and store in the fridge!
